Double Sharp Experiments

A sensory dialogue on spaces (and life). Centered on humans. We curate these experiments to shape (and reshape) how we navigate, consume and define the world—all, in an effort to avoid same and push the boundaries of placemaking.

How do you lift up a struggling neighborhood while also building a sustainable workspace business and brand?

No Walls Studio partnered with Chapel to brand and design their new Co-Working/Kitchen Co-Working, Food & Beverage, and Event Space — all, with an immense focus on including the existing Poe Mill community in the growth of Greenville, South Carolina.

Step 01: Separate from the pack.

We channeled the vision of the team to understand and articulate the unique meaning of the project. Through workshops and conversations with crucial stakeholders, we identified key storytelling narratives and guidelines/guardrails for communication. Through competitive research and a precedent analysis, we found opportunities to stand out from the crowd.

Step 02: Learn and test.

We organized community conversations and 1-on-1 interviews with local residents and business owners to understand their perspectives on the growth of Greenville, and specifically the Poe Mill community. We also used these focus groups as opportunities to test messaging, design concepts, and core elements of the Chapel brand.

Step 03: Bring the brand to life.

Building on a single existing logo, we designed an extensive identity system, including alternative logos and marks, colors, typefaces, and use-guides. We expanded this creative design to include brand activations, such as gear/swag opportunities and launch campaign ideas. We also took key brand values and built an extensive messaging and communications guide, so that any future partner or employee has a clear understanding of the brand.

Step 04: Make brand and design one.

Finally, we translated key brand values into programming concepts, and ultimately, full-fledged designs; highly strategic programming that sets Chapel up for success on Day 1 and provides the flexibility for Chapel to grow over time. Every element of the space has meaning, pointing back to key business, impact, and brand-related goals.

The result? The brand and the design have a combined message: Chapel is a new kind of neighbor. A shared workplace, focused on fostering economic opportunity, social connection and cultural expression.

Fresh, from head to toe.

Chapel is a novel approach to workspace. We built every brand touchpoint to also present a new way of thinking and doing. From design elements to business “cards,” Chapel represents a new path forward.

A new kind of neighbor.

For Chapel, it’s not enough to break the office space mold with innovative co-working/kitchen co-working, food and beverage, and events...Chapel is a space focused on fostering economic opportunity, social connection, and cultural expression in its home town. In designing the brand and the space, we deeply communicated the value of Chapel to people of Poe Mill.

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
